Ontario's downtown is not having a moment. It is executing a plan. The Summer Concert Series, the movies at Town Square, the new restaurants filling old bank buildings on Euclid, and the Fall 2026 opening of the Ontario Sports Empire are all pieces of the same civic project: turning the historic core into what the City calls an 18-hour district. This summer is when a resident can walk it and feel the difference.

The Wednesday-and-Friday Rhythm At Town Square
If you live within a five-minute drive of Euclid and you are not already doing this, you are missing the easiest good night out in the Inland Empire. The Summer Concert Series runs for ten weeks beginning Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Ontario Town Square, located at 224 N. Euclid Ave. Pre-show activities, food vendors, and shopping start earlier in the evening, and the tribute-band lineup leans deliberately broad. Pack a blanket. The amphitheater lawn seats families comfortably, and the promenade around the clock tower keeps kids busy between acts.
Two weeknight anchors, walking distance from everything the City is currently rebuilding on the same street. That is not a coincidence. It is the point.
What's Actually Opening On Euclid
The events calendar is the front-of-house. Behind it is a build-out most residents only half notice as they drive past scaffolding.
On June 20, 2024, the City of Ontario took control of Euclid Avenue from the state, marking a pivotal step in downtown revitalization, with control extending from the I-10 freeway to Merrill Avenue and allowing the City to implement key improvements. Those specifics come straight from the City's downtown update, which noted that the redevelopment on the west side of the 100 block of North Euclid will include up to 18 small food and beverage vendor spaces and three garden spaces offering outdoor dining, live music and entertainment; a new restaurant and brewery will be added to the Holt X Palm showroom at 115 S. Palm Ave.; the Vault project at 211 W. Emporia St. will consist of 20 luxury and classic car condos with an on-site brewery and tasting room; and two new mixed-use developments on the C and D blocks of Euclid will add more than 250 residential units and 11,000 square feet of retail space to the downtown mix, with construction underway now.
Two food-and-drink anchors are already open and worth building an evening around. New dining spots like Mule Car Smokehouse in the renovated Bank of Italy building and a rooftop venue called El Balcon for tapas and music aim to make downtown Ontario a regional hotspot. If you have out-of-town family visiting for the Ontario International Airport, this is now a credible answer to "where should we eat?"
For long-time residents wondering how any of this gets financed, the City has three programs supporting the effort. The Downtown Ontario Retail Pop-Up Program gives entrepreneurs access to city-owned spaces along Euclid Avenue for as little as $1 per month for up to six months; the Equipment Loan Program offers forgivable loans of up to $20,000 to eligible restaurants, breweries, wineries, and distilleries, fully forgiven after five years of continuous operation; and the Façade Improvement Program supports property upgrades and historic preservation through matching grants of up to $25,000. That is why storefronts that sat dark for a decade are turning over now.
There is also a new art layer worth watching for on the sidewalk. The Downtown Ontario Improvement Association, in partnership with the City of Ontario's Museum, Arts & Culture Department, launched "The People's Storefront," a new temporary public art initiative celebrating creativity, local history, and the continued revitalization of Downtown's historic core. These installations rotate through vacant windows, so what you saw last month may already be different.
The One-Off Summer Nights Worth Blocking Out

Looking East: Toyota Arena And What Comes After Summer
Downtown Ontario is one half of the story. The other half is the Ontario Center corridor by the 15 freeway, and this summer is a heavy touring stretch. Toyota Arena's summer lineup includes Intocable: Cultura Tour 2026 on 8/1, Grupo Frontera – Triste Pero Bien C*bron Tour on 8/2, Shinedown: Dance, Kid, Dance Act II on 8/6, and Gavin Adcock w/ Pecos and The Rooftops on 8/15. Fall brings more, including CODICIADO – Así Es La Vida Tour on October 2, 2026 at Toyota Arena, 4000 E. Ontario Center Parkway. Freestyle nostalgia gets its own night, with Freestyle Festival featuring Lisa Lisa, Stevie B, J.J. Fad, The Egyptian Lover, Lime, Candyman, Sweet Sensation, and Johnny O at the arena as well.
For sports parents, the more important date is farther out. Opening in Fall 2026, the Ontario Sports Empire will be the largest sports complex west of the Rockies, designed to host youth and amateur tournaments across baseball, softball, and soccer, attracting families and visitors from across the U.S. If your kid plays club ball, this is where a lot of your weekends are about to relocate.
